In order to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the National Energy Administration has taken multiple measures to promote the high-quality development of renewable energy. On November 30, the National Energy Administration released data showing that after exceeding 1.3 billion kilowatts in June this year, the installed scale of renewable energy power generation in the country reached a new high, exceeding 1.4 billion kilowatts as of the end of October, reaching 1.404 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%, accounting for about 49.9% of the country's total installed power generation capacity, including 420 million kilowatts of hydropower (370 million kilowatts of conventional hydropower and 50.04 million kilowatts of pumped storage), 404 million kilowatts of wind power, 536 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power generation, and 44 million kilowatts of biomass power generation. It is estimated that by the end of the year, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in China will exceed 1.45 billion kilowatts, and the installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation will exceed 1 billion kilowatts.

From January to October this year, the country's installed renewable energy power generation capacity increased by 191 million kilowatts, an increase of nearly 100 million kilowatts over the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 90.8%, accounting for 76.4% of the country's new installed capacity. Among them, 8.44 million kilowatts of hydropower, 37.31 million kilowatts of wind power, 142 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power generation, and 2.32 million kilowatts of biomass power generation were added. It is expected that the new installed capacity of wind and photovoltaic power generation in China will exceed 200 million kilowatts by 2023.

At the same period the country's renewable energy power generation reached 2.33 trillion kilowatt hours, accounting for 31.8% of the country's total power generation, including 980.5 billion kilowatt hours of hydropower, 696.8 billion kilowatt hours of wind power, 489.8 billion kilowatt hours of photovoltaics, and 164 billion kilowatt hours of biomass. It is estimated that the country's renewable energy power generation will reach 3 trillion kilowatt hours throughout the year, accounting for about 1/3 of the total electricity consumption of the whole society.

As a key support for the construction of a new power system, energy storage plays a vital role in energy storage and balancing, grid dispatching, renewable energy utilization and other fields. For the environmental friendliness and high-energy-density lithium ion battery energy storage has become the main force in the energy storage industry.
